I'm surprised anyone would support that individual! Won't place his hand over his heart out of respect for those who gave their lives so he can stand there? Sorry!

I was surprised. I greatly respect Colin Powell and always consider his thought well-phrased and cogent.

I am not surprised. All politicians/government officials regardless of their political party affiliation are crooked. They jump on the band wagon of whatever views/race/religion/beliefs they "think" is correct - not what they truly "feel" in their hearts is correct.

YES. HE JUST MADE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF HIS CAREER. HE SAID TO BE ON MCCAINS SIDE AND ALSO HIS FREIND, HE HAS PROVEN TO BE NOT A STABLE MAN. OUR GOVERNMENT IS FALLING APART. AND THIS PROVES TO BE THE LAST CHANCE OF ANY GOOD TO COME TO OUR GOVERNMENT. WE ARE HEADED TO LOSE OUR FREEDOM, IF OBAMA IS ELECTED.

I wasn't really surprised because I felt that if Powell were going to endorse McCain, he would have done so a long time ago. I was pleased to see the reasons Powell gave for his endorsement of Obama, especially his judgement that Sarah Palin is not ready to lead this country and indeed the free world, and his observations on the unsteadiness of McCain's response to the financial crisis and the "dirty tricks" of the robocalls and racist mailers going out under the Republican banner.

I was a bit suprised that Powell endorsed Obama. As a former military officer myself, I've always had great admiration for Powell and his more moderate viewpoints. I don't understand, however, how he can support the entitlement culture that Obama purports, but I do understand how and why he believes that Obama will be a "transformational" figure that the rest of the world will accept, more so than McCain. But I'm also not voting for a President that the rest of the world can accept, I'm voting for one that the United States of America needs.

No I wasn't surprised. He sees with a choice between the two major parties who would be better for us. There are other choices. I think we all need to think differently and choose one of the other candidates to be Presidents.

Is he angling for a cabinet job. Why now if not? He has not spoken up until now, so I am suspicious. I am beginning to think that we need to clean house when it comes to those in Washington, and those that hand on to their coat tails. The only interests being looked out for are their own. If ours, 'We the People's', brush up again theirs, 'the politicians, then ours are addressed. Anyway I am sick and tired of the politics.

Being that Colin Powell is a Republican, yes I was surprised to hear that he is endorsing Senator Obama. But our times are so difficult, I think we are ALL taking a good look at Senator Obama and what is he saying that he will change about our country. And alot of it is very appealing.

Yes, I was surprised but pleased. Colin Powell has always presented himself as personally and politically conservative. It's nice to see that he realizes that this country has some very serious problems and that personal ideology isn't what is important in this election. He could have simply gone into a voting booth and voted his conscience. The fact that he made his feelings public speaks to both the depth of his feelings, his great integrity and his desire to "do right" for his country. I think he has a lot of guidance to offer this country and I hope that the next administration includes him as a trusted advisor.

IT APPEARS THAT HE IS TRYING ANYTHING HE CAN TO WIN. HE HAS CHANGED POSITIONS WITH BUSH/AWAY FROM BUSH, AND NOW ALTHOUGH HE IS RUNNING NEGATIVE ADS, HE WANTS TO BE SEEN AS A HUMAN BEING INSTEAD OF A CHILD BULLY. POLITICIANS MAKE ME SICK.

Yes, I was surprised and pleased that he endorsed Obama. It says lot about him and Obama. Him that he would cross part lines for something he felt strongly about. I respect him very much and his opinion carries weight with me. It also says alot about Obama and availability of an experienced source of military knowledge.

I was under the impression (mistakenly, obviously) that Colin Powell had more integrity and sense of personal presence than to willingly place himself in the spotlight of this presidential circus-sham. Red Rover Red Rover who will be next to come over?
