I am using more CFL's and am using storge containers for food instead of ziploc bags and using the "green" grocery bags instead of getting the paper or plastic in the grocery stores, plus no more platic water bottles, using a refillable container.

Global warming is a hoax! ask a real scientists. This is a scare tactic - and a way for extreme liberals to sell books and force people to live "their" way. What happened to being "free" and having the right to live as you want. I do my normal cleaning and planting a garden every year. and I don't litter. good enough for me!!!!! Oh yeah - and those that claim they plant organic? - IT'S A PLANT!!!!!!!! IT ALREADY IS ORGANIC - DUH! This earth day I will proudly drive my extremely large SUV to the beach and have a Barbecue with family. Don't like it - too bad - it's my rights as an american to be free to do as I want.

This year I decided to buy all natural cleaning products, they work better than I thought. Not sure if I can say this, but the Clorox Green Works is the BEST dish soap I have ever bought.

It was raining like cats and dogs here on April 22, with tornado warnings, lol, so, couldn't go out there and "enjoy" the earth. I don't wait for a holiday, anyway, to do what I normally do, which is plant a garden in the spring and harvest during the summer and fall. To me, I think we should all respect nature every day by adapting to good sound habits. Recycling plastic grocery bags, bottles by re-using them. Like I use them for trash bags in my car and small waste baskets in the home. I also utilize plastic bottles by cutting them in half for my granddaughter to use in the sand box: tops to use as a sieve, bottoms as scoops.

We started our own vegetable garden and started with some plants as well. I'm just starting to learn everything I need to do for this but so far I'm really having good time. I live in a country that doesn't recycle and constantly uses plastic bags, so in my neighborhood we've put dustbins all over and once a week we clean up anything that people have put in the bins. I also got all my neighbors to start seperating their things and we have two drivers who come to get plastics and aluminum. All the ladies I know when we go shopping to bazaars we use big cloth bags so we dont need the plastic ones that they sell there. And the place where I do grocery shopping, had quite a few talks with the owners and they agreed to stop plastic bags and provide paper ones instead yeah!

Nothing, I think that earth day, saving the environment, and global warming is just a bunch of garbage, and it is a big old scam from all the idiots in Washington to get more tax money out of all of us, and to try to grow government bigger off of the backs of hard working Americans. Sure there are exceptions, (like you wouldn't allow factories ect to dump their garbage in a river), but that is just common sense. If you want to plant a tree go ahead, they are very pretty, but I think that people need to get more informed about what is really going on behind the scenes, and what government is really doing here, and how they are taking more and more of your money (for those of you who actually pay taxes) and how they are making more and more useless rules and restrictions, it is hurting our economy, and will continue to hurt it more, and that is the last thing we need right now.

Nothing; special; there is too much hype on this issue taking away from important issues on which humans can make more of an impact....the world will do what the world will do with or without our actions other than to teach our neighbors not to litter and enforce littering laws already on the books

Except for the hour I was in Physical Therapy, I cleaned out a planting bed preparing for new flowers ad shrubs, mulched a new flower bed where the gladiolas have just come up and weeded and mulched my vegetable garden. Even managed to drop some seeds in the bird feeder. I feel really green today. I need to turn off this computer and save some energy!!!

My eco-friendly ideas are: to clean the two cages of my 4 Guniea Pigs with diluted vinegar; to use carefresh bedding for them ; I feed them Oxbow (family farm ) pellets and Hay; I recycle the bags in which both the hay and bedding comes in; Finally, I give the used bedding of both cages to my friend for his compost pile 2x/week.

Why would I do anything differently on just 1 day of the year? We shouldn't just have 1 day to be eco-aware. It's like only appreciating civil rights on Martin Luther King day, celebrating our freedom only on Independence Day, or being thankful only on Thanksgiving. What about the other 364 days? If you want to do something special for Earth Day, why not go ahead and do it NOW?

We are going to our son's kindergarten orientation and if the weather holds out, we will be raking our yard, and getting it ready for the first spring rain, and picking all the sticks and refreshing the ground around my flowers, that are starting to push through the still cold ground. At 9:00 all the lights are being turned off and lighting some candles and reading a book with my son by candlelight for bedtime.
