Earth Day and global warming are a bunch of bull. I always try to keep my environment clean-always have but they are trying to pull the wool over people's eyes.

There are too many mis-statements, untruths, and illogical comments supporting too many extreme "green" proposals, global warming, and such. I believe that we have been responsibly helping to care for our home planet, especially in the US compared to many other countries. Every day I do things to clean up my area around my home. In my past work I did many things to make sure we helped make our country a safer, healther, and cleaner place. I fear supporting Earth Day, or Earth Hour, or Al Gore that we take away from the most important persons in cleaning our planet - you and I. And we miss out on using the free enterprise system with its many incentives to improve gas mileage, reduction of pollutants, and learning from the mistakes of the past. I truely fear people like Al Gore and his extremism for I distrust their motives, science, and logic.

I am going to spend two hours walking up and down the highway in front of my house and pick up trash with my 4 year old grandaughter and after lunch we're planting 4 tiny trees in our back yard, one tree for each year of her life. I also intend to tell her how all the garbage gets into the ditches by the highway. Their never to young to start teaching them about their Mother (EARTH).

I try to make every day earth day by re-purposing, using my own canvas grocery bags, conserving my energy and water use and avoiding chemicals that are bad for everyone. Earth day is a good platform to make people aware of our need to conserve and renew, but we should all do what we can all year round. I think for Earth day, I will give out some reusable grocery bags to family and friends to get them started. I can't do anything about the climate, but I can do my best to be considerate of the world.

I have planted a couple of trees with friends, just yesterday and this morning. I am an enery consever from way back so the most electric I use in a days time is what I use here on my pc and my television for a couple of hours at night. I leave a room, I turn the lights off. I also save cans for recycling. This is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but I feel I am doing my part

We are going to our son's kindergarten orientation and if the weather holds out, we will be raking our yard, and getting it ready for the first spring rain, and picking all the sticks and refreshing the ground around my flowers, that are starting to push through the still cold ground. At 9:00 all the lights are being turned off and lighting some candles and reading a book with my son by candlelight for bedtime.

Why would I do anything differently on just 1 day of the year? We shouldn't just have 1 day to be eco-aware. It's like only appreciating civil rights on Martin Luther King day, celebrating our freedom only on Independence Day, or being thankful only on Thanksgiving. What about the other 364 days? If you want to do something special for Earth Day, why not go ahead and do it NOW?

My eco-friendly ideas are: to clean the two cages of my 4 Guniea Pigs with diluted vinegar; to use carefresh bedding for them ; I feed them Oxbow (family farm ) pellets and Hay; I recycle the bags in which both the hay and bedding comes in; Finally, I give the used bedding of both cages to my friend for his compost pile 2x/week.

Except for the hour I was in Physical Therapy, I cleaned out a planting bed preparing for new flowers ad shrubs, mulched a new flower bed where the gladiolas have just come up and weeded and mulched my vegetable garden. Even managed to drop some seeds in the bird feeder. I feel really green today. I need to turn off this computer and save some energy!!!
