Sadly no, didn't qualify. Also let's not put such a politically charged question up, everyone's ignorance is showing.

No, my car is very low mileage. But I'm glad that people had a chance to do this. It's especially good for people who needed a car and couldn't afford today's prices, but it is also very good for people who use their car is sales and similar professions. Miles and wear and tear on their cars really cut into their earnings.

About one month prior, I donated my clunker to a charity, and found out that I do not get the tax break I was expecting. I guess I should have waited one more month, and I too would be driving a new car.

I just bought a new motoe scooter so I don't need the program, but for those who do need it I think it's a great program.

This program is proactive about cleaning up the environment and making America less dependent on foreign oil. People here who think it is a waste of taxpayer $ have little vision.

I would have loved to participate in the program, it benefits a lot of people. It's a wonderful idea to get those cars off the streets, but of course I do worry if it is the right time for such a program, I mean the economy is so unstable right now.

Would love to buy new car. Have a perfect clunker. The government has strict qualifications and because I did not have the registration and insurance in my name for the past year, I don't qualify. I have had the car insured for the past 3 years just not with my name so I am screwed! Gotta Love the government

We would be but because of a recent job loss our debt to income ratio is too high. (Still trying to get back on track with the new job.) We test drove a Honda Civic Hybrid and LOVED it. We would want to buy it even w/o the CFC/CARS program. (Would love to get a Tesla or Aptera... but really who can afford one?) (BTW, we have a friend who has a manual 1987 Civic and he gets 40 mpg.)

I don't know all the exact details of the cash for clunkers deal. I would like to have a new car. I have an 87 Buick LeSabre that gets last I knew 26 mpg. The only thing wrong with my car is the windows are out of whack, no ac, and the back passenger door don't open and the back driver side door only opens from the inside. My husband and I paid 450 for it so can't expect too much. If the cash for clunkers deal was a good deal then maybe we would do it.

I agree with Patrick on Aug 16. If US auto makers made cars that got 100 (or even 50) mpg and had lots of great features for passengers, we wouldn't need Cash for Clunkers. U.S. auto makers also make cars that at 80,000 miles start to need more & more expensive repairs, no matter how careful you are about maintenance, so why don't they work on cars that will run for 200,000 miles? The diesel trucks that haul so much all over our country SHOULD be redesigned to be less polluting too (and the drivers shouldn't be forced by economics to drive such long hours they're unsafe). Also, more solar & wind & ocean power--less coal & petroleum-- & only very carefully designed nuclear power AFTER we finish Yucca Mtn. so we can safely store the waste!

Being in the car business, I will not be trading in a "clunker", the best thing about this program is auto company's will rehire thousands of auto workers to replenish the 450,000 vehicles that have been sold.

no, I would like to participate but unfortunately I cannot afford a new car payment at this current time I am trying to modify my mortgage payment and my credit now sucks. I wondering could they give a new car at much lesser price almost the same exchange as the clunker from 3000 to 4000.00.

Nope, it seems to me such a program might be a good concept, but know that the dealerships are trying to limit the concumer to a certain level of car that will qualify, instead of allowing a more moderate priced car to buy and really help a consumer upgrade.

Yes, I already have. I don't like the idea of the government spending this money in this way, but they already approved the expenditure and we figured we might as well take advantage as we pay lots and lots of taxes!! If we didn't trade in our old suburban the $4500 would have just gone to someone else.

I would have liked to participate but I didn't qualify. I have a 91 pontiac grand am that has been a good car but is on it's last leg. I feel like the people who really needed help from this weren't helped at all. I truly have a clunker and can't afford a new car. That money would have helped me, even though I can't really afford a car payment right now, I really would like to have a reliable vehicle.

YES... we traded in a 1988 Dodge truck (12 mpg) for a new Chevy truck. It will not only decrease our dependence on foreign oil, but also helps the environment by reducing emissions. We may even convert it to propane. People who drive big gas-guzzlers are not being very patriotic.

No don't think so my pathfinder is a fairly new moder and is paid for and my husband's Ford trunk is fairly new and paid for.I just don't see putting ourselves in debt for something when we can't afford it with the economy the way it is today. I think it is a good idea for people who need it though.

No. My friend tried to and they were giving him 3thousand on his car, and matching it, but when he wanted to get the 2010 mazda they said oh, "its not for that car" he has a 2007 mazda. I think the car people here in Georgia are running game. has this happened to anyone out there? They won't sell you a new car but want to get rid of their old cars.

Cash for clunkers is just another way the government is using our tax money to keep our automotive Industry afloat. We all will be paying for their benefits as in med Insurance and retirement whether we like it or not. They think were stupid. All we are doing is keeping their foreign competitors afloat. In another year its going to be buy one get a one free.
