I spent Black Friday at home with my kiddos and enjoyed a movie day with popcorn and granola bars and (mostly) watched as my 9 yr old tried her hand at turkey pot pies for the family... it was awesome to see her teach her 5 yr old brother how to de-bone the turkey... much more entertaining than fighting the outrageous crowds who act like they dont care about anyone but themselves at that moment in time...

In all the years that I have been alive this is the first time that I have gotten up at 5:30am to go to a store. That was quite an experience. It really made me smile, can't wait for next year.

I don't enjoy the hustle and bustle of crowds so I refuse to place myself in that type of situation. Enjoy shopping but prefer a calm, low keyed way of gathering my goodies. I stayed home with the family and enjoyed a movie/game day around the homestead.

I ignored it. Materialism is not happiness; otherwise, there'd be no NEED to keep buying more stuff.

Never thought I would combined Black Friday, and the best day in the same sentence, but after this year I stand corrected. I gave up on going out on Black friday" a few years ago. I dont care how much you mark items down, nothing is worth going through that hectic mass of overly tired, grumpy, strung out on coffee, fighting over the last "must have" toy of the year! So, instead, I enjoyed a peacefull day, sleeping in, staying in my pj's and slippers, and to add "the cherry on top" I saved myself more money staying home and shopping the amazing black friday sales online, than I ever saved going out in that crazy mess of a shopping day!!

This year the excitment of "Black Friday" was diminished by the exaggerated, elongated method in which it was conducted.

I spent Black Friday at home and I ate some leftover Thanksgiving dinner. I have never gone shopping on this day. I enjoy buying gifts but not on Black Friday. I live in a cold-weather state and I don't feel like freezing for hours in a long line. One of my mom's friends witnessed a fight in a Toys R Us. That's not something I want to see.

I spent quality time at home with friends. No shopping until a couple of days later. Later I did have to venture out to Target to pick up a printer cartridge. Otherwise, it was nice and mellow.

I avoided shopping at all costs! My parents, all the grandparents, sisters, aunt and friends went to the local IMAX theater to see A Christmas carol in 3D instead. It was a great way to get into the holiday season and we spent almost nothing!

after reading the comments on Black Friday (something always thought was crazy to stand outside in the freezing cold for a bargain), in january everything most people want will be on sale, from clothes, cars, jeweler, etc.this is a great time to purchase for the following year, especially if you have growing children.(a size or two larger). believe me it works

Me and my wife got up early and went to Wal-Mart, worked or way back to the electronics to get one of the advertised lap-top computers. They were (of course) sold out already, 6:05 A.M. We then went to Target, their lap-tops were gone as well, no lines in the store though, nice experience. Last chance Best-Buy, got lap-top I'm writing now and didn't have to wait very long to checkout.
